Yeah, according to BBRef, the Sox purchased him from the LoCos "before the 1939 season", then traded him to the Dodgers in July of that same year. Another quality decision from that era.
The futility of that attitude comes into stark relief when you consider that Pee Wee went to the Dodgers, where their SS was also their Manager - Leo the Lip, who happily made way.
