Slugger Brandon Woods, an 8 time gold glove winner and 6 time all star will spend the final year of his contract playing in LA, and not Austin as the Lawmen were unable to come to terms with Woods on an extension. Woods is a career .272 hitter with 250 HR's and 790 RBIs.
Austin received 22-year-old Switch-hitting OF Dave Mertens and 22-year-old RHP Clarros Hamano in return. Our scouts don't think either will be big leaguers of any substance and are convinced this was a pure salary dump to get something in return before Woods walked at year's end. Hard to believe this was the best they could do.
