In 2001 the league would again expand.
This time the AL would see the Columbus Black Knights join the AL East while the Portland Spartans joined the AL west.
Columbus went 69-93 while Portland went 78-84.
Washington took home the Frank Robinson trophy, going 104-58 before beaing defeated 4-1 in the World Series by the Denver Saints.
1998 Jackie Robinson winner Marco Lopez (LV) took home the NL's Hank Aaron award after hitting .361/.434/.602 with 24 HR and scoring 110 times.
Yaagov Hysh went 14-7 2.90 to win his 4th Koufax award, all with LA.
Washington rookie Nick Ortiz hit .279/.328/.435 to win Jackie Robinson honors while Jacksonville closer Alejandro Perez saved 45 with a 2.14 ERA to win another Rivera.
Utah Mammoth Jay Anguiano hit 54 HR's and drove in 125 to win the AL MVP.
Travis Walker of San Jose went 19-6 2.75 to win his 2nd Koufax for the Seahawks.
Detroit rookie Miles Rose hit .328 with 30 HR and 117 RBI to win the Jackie Robinson.
Denver reliever Ryan Carrasco was 5-1 2.38 to win the Rivera.
SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
Anguiano (54) of Utah, Ferdynand Kmiecik (50) of Columbus, and Adrian Fajardo (51) of Portland all topped 50 homers, becoming the 4th, 5th and 6th players all time.
Brown's 20-9 season was the only 20 win campaign.
Jacksonville's Ryan Thompson hit his 400th HR.
