Chicago, utah finalize trade

League sources report that the Utah Mammoth have sent 26 year old P Nate Draper and 3B Anthony Trip as well as their 2011 2nd round draft pick (36) to the Chicago Iron Pigs for 3B Jorge Cespedes and reliever Brian Jaje and the Iron Pigs 2011 4th round pick (1). GM Curt Schilling could not be reached for comment but an Iron Pigs player, speaking on the condition of anonymity stated “He couldn't be gone soon enough.”
When asked about the comment Cespedes, who struggled in April hitting .198 with 2 HR's replied “whatever, I should still be in Fresno”. Cespedes was born and raised in Bakersfield and rumors around the expansion draft were he had told both teams not to draft him as he would not report.

BACKROOM CHATTER
Ya, he was a problem. Multiple players made it clear inside the clubhouse how elated they were to be rid of him. I didn't think it would fester like that and certainly not that soon.
Tripp, a switch hitter, was a 13th round pick out of Idaho City HS in 2007. He slots as a corner IF with gap power and very good contact skills. Fanned just 45 times in 320 PA at Lexington last year.
He'll be added to the roster and be inserted to play third likely hitting 9th vs RHP and 7th vs LHP.
Draper, 26, signed with Utah out of independent ball in 2008 and in April he was ranked as the 49th best prospect. His biggest upside is in starting, but he was out of the pen in Utah before being sent back and starting in Lexington. He'll take Jaje's spot and be an emergency SP option for now.
Brian Jaje had a horrible April sporting a 7.90 ERA allowing 20 H in 13.2 IP. Still hate trading a 24 year old arm, especially a kid that's 6'4” and coming off a great 2010 in Staten Island (2.73 over 33 IP). But to get the pick it was an add we had to make. The draft pick exchange nets us the 77th overall pick in addition to the 1st and 45th. The 4th rounder we sent there is the 114th overall selection.
