Santana’s Breakout Season Earns Eastern League MVP Honors
Cristian Santana may have had less experience than most of his
Eastern League peers, but that did little to slow him down in 2024. The 20-year-old shortstop for the
Erie SeaWolves was named the
Eastern League’s Most Valuable Player after putting together one of the league’s most productive seasons.
Santana hit .298 with a .340 on-base percentage, appearing in 135 games and collecting 167 hits. His power and run production stood out as he totaled 29 doubles, eight triples, 34 home runs, 110 RBI and 82 runs scored.
Santana received five first-place votes and finished with 128 total points to secure the award. Teammate
Jackson Jobe finished second in the voting with six first-place votes and 104 points, while
Bladimir Restituyo of the
Hartford Yard Goats placed third with 88 points. The complete voting results are as follows:
