The Yankees were heavy favorites heading into the playoffs and they pretty easily cruised into the World Series to meet the upstart Cardinals who made it from a Wild Card spot. Even after the Cards took an early 2 game lead in the Series, it still seemed like the Yankees had to come through and win it. The Yankees had a couple of games where they put up 10+ runs to win, but St. Louis came back to take the championship in Game 7 by a 5-4 score.
