Henderson Captures AL MVP
Baltimore, MD — At just 23 years old, Gunnar Henderson is setting a towering standard for excellence, as the Baltimore Orioles shortstop was named the American League Most Valuable Player. In capping a sensational 2024 season, Henderson hit .302 with a .382 on-base percentage, as he collected 182 hits, including 31 doubles, 8 triples, and 38 home runs. All told, Henderson drove in 111 runs and crossed the plate 116 times which was good for 9.1 WAR.
In what was a close award's race, Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez (.291/.379/.596; 51 home runs, 137 RBI, 5.9 WAR) finished second in the MVP voting after another dominant offensive season, while Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (.288/.356/.504; 9.1 WAR) placed third.
