Downing Stadium (Randalls Island, New York)

Downing Stadium (also known as Triborough Stadium or Randalls Island Stadium) was built as a WPA project in 1935 and hosted several key events in American sports history: the Olympic track and field trials in 1936, the first televised football game in 1939, and the temporary home of Pele's New York Cosmos. Its ties to baseball were as one of the homes of the Negro League's New York Black Yankees in 1937-1938. As the diamond was squeezed into the infield of a standard olympic track, the field's dimensions were rather unusual with short foul lines, a large backstop, and an infinite centerfield. This field will give you lots of doubles and triples.
