CCBL Regular Season Ends, UMass #1 Overall Seed
Another regular season is in the books, and the playoffs will begin in a couple of days. It will be a battle of survival -- and the final survivor will be the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League champions. The "haves" will be in their radiant glory, playing for the league title, while the "have-nots" will be at home, sitting by the hot stove until springtime.
UMass enters the playoffs as the #1 overall seed, shattering the CCBL's winning percentage (.867) record. Last season was the Minutemen's first college playoffs appearance. They were eliminated in the Sweet 16.
Some clubs have coasted to make the playoffs -- others have scrapped tooth and nail to get here. After a long, sometimes seemingly endless regular season, it gets down to who can win a short series -- by hook or crook, talent or luck. That's what it takes to capture the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League championship. The top teams will vie in the College Series starting today:
