Thanks!, Yes I was excited to find this and without having looked very much yet! I really think that 498 fights is a wild misprint! Maybe more like 98 fights or 198? But 498 unless it counts a whole lot of non pro fights? Curious to see what I can find about those years between 1941 to 1945 that are blank on his current BoxRec.
I found these two articles, one which also makes mention of Jesse Cartee being known as Hub Parker in boxing and I pulled up an article printed the week before his BoxRec listed fight against Bill Stewart and this gives some nice info on the physical make up of Mr. Cartee / Parker. I'm going to go through the list of BoxRec noted fights. I want to do some detail on him and come up with a rating. I like finding guys like this to rate!
Sat, Mar 25, 1950, The Caledonian-Record, St. Johnsbury, VT ran an article as did some other local papers, about a trial going on involving some accident (did not read details of it), where the Caledonian article mentions Jesse Cartee who was involved in this trial, "known as Hub Parker in boxing circles".
Fri, Feb 7, 1936, Express and Standard, Newport, Vermont - Previewing a boxing match upcoming in the Newport Armory on Thursday evening, Feb 13 by Promoter Ray Sisco, Hub Parker, 24 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 146 lbs will be meeting fellow welterweight Bill Stewart, 147 lbs of Burlington in a 6 rounder. Article mentions that Parker has met and beaten most welterweights he's met in and around Rochester, N.Y., his home town having recently moved to Newport.
