MLB news: Sept. 30 -- Blue Jays sew up playoff ticket
With a 3-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox, the Toronto Blue Jays have assured themselves a second-consecutive trip to the American League postseason.
Where the Blue Jays fit in has yet to be determined as at 85-73, they lead the second-place Tampa Bay Rays by 2.5 games in the American League East Division with four games left in the season.
If Toronto should win the division, it will be the No. 3 seed in the AL Playoffs as both Detroit (96-59, Central Division) and Texas (89-69, West Division) both have better records.
The Blue Jays have not reached the World Series since 1993, when they won the second of two straight tiles by defeating the Philadelphia Phillies.
