MLB news: Oct. 4 -- Blue Jays are champs of AL East
With a 6-5 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers, the Toronto Blue Jays have claimed the championship of the American League East Division.
The Jays (87-75) will be in the postseason for the second straight season after advancing as a wild card in 2031.
Toronto won the division by two games over the Tampa Bay Rays, who will advance as a wild card.
The Blue Jays will be the No. 3 seed in the AL playoff field and will face the Cleveland Indians in the wild-card round.
Toronto last reached the World Series in 1992, when it defeated the Philadelphia Phillies to earn back-to-back titles.
