Toronto reliever Brian Tallet snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0.
Had Aaron Hill not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Hill hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Blue Jays.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Hill said.

The Toronto Blue Jays faced a tough opponent in Oakland pitcher Greg Smith, but did just enough to pull out the victory at SkyDome by a final score of 3-2.
The win belonged to Jeremy Accardo in relief. His record improves to 1-0.
At 7-1, the Blue Jays have played well so far.
Lyle Overbay was the walk-off hero for Toronto. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Blue Jays first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Overbay, "and then get after it again."

Well after the debacle that was yesterday’s loss and just an awful series against Oakland, the Jays leave Toronto and head down to Arlington, where they always seem to struggle, to take on the Texas Rangers in a 3-game series. Yesterday’s game was just unbearable.
In other Jays news, B.J. Ryan made his last rehab start at Dunedin and packed his bags for Syracuse. I’d expect to see him up with the Jays sometime next week, assuming all goes well.
In injury news, Scott Rolen had successful surgery to remove the pin from his finger, and expects to be cleared to start hitting off a tee any day now. The Jays could definitely use Rolen back.
