December 2022 Transactions

December 2:

SP Aro Ipo, one of the league's true aces, signs with the Pasataki Galaxy for 5 years, $38.5 million. This feels like a big bargain for a team that badly needed pitching if they wanted to be a legit title contender. Ipo, who previously starred for Sitache BC, missed the back half of this season with a labrum tear, though, so I suppose that risk factor is accounted for.

December 3:

No tears for Sitache, at least not now. They bring in 1B Fomo Tirma, who opted out of his contract with Kupore in October, for 5 years, $55 million. Tirma is the most "pure hitter" hitter in the league, in my opinion - a walking batting title who probably won't hit more than 20-25 home runs but is extremely useful.

December 5:

Former Keleri closer Chysho Sofiulo has signed with Cheshek, 3 years/$12.2 million. The two-time EL saves leader has been pushed out by some other signings. One thing I missed in the later stages of the year - he hit a walk-off grand slam this September against the Eagles, his first career extra-base hit.

December 8:

Haven't had much Akashemo talk this offseason, but here they sign OF Tseiriki Tushifo to a 4-year, $25MM contract. Tushifo has not played in the EL but hit 67 home runs in the third tier this season.

December 9:

Another Westline bomb drop - SP Sefti Merefife, the 2021 Pitcher of the Year winner and 5th place finisher this year, has left Tsapna to sign across town. Not as much money as I would have expected either, $90 million over 7 years. Westline clearly feel like it's time for them to make the leap - at the very least, they're winning the offseason.

December 15:

C Lakiru Shufaho, who started 72 games for Keleri this year, mostly at third base, is moving on to the Shunna Eagles, where he will attempt to take the full reins of an EL pitching staff for the first time.

December 17:

Semyof re-signs C Takmake Efiyalem for 8 years and $48MM. Efiyalem has a bad clubhouse reputation, but he's a very good defensive catcher.

December 20:

Kupore has traded starting 2B Mirotiko Nysho to Motech of the Northern Super League, receiving closer Sosuo Lotechosa. Lotechosa is just 19, and had 59 saves for a first-place team in 2022, winning promotion from Western League One. For Kupore, Koraralu Fatsi is expected to move from third to be the everyday second baseman.

December 25:

Former Pasataki Galaxy shortstop Atsi Keana has signed a 5-year deal to join giants Keleri, earning $56.5 million. Keana had just one injury-plagued season with Pasataki, with three different IL stints and a spate of minor injuries to boot, but he was still extremely productive in the 83 games that he did play, driving in over a hundred runs. He got them in spurts, hitting six grand slams and recording more 8+ RBI games than the rest of the EL combined (3 to 2).

December 31:

C Tupae Pufosa has left Keleri to sign an 8-year contract with Fampalo for $76.4 million. Pufosa, on a 1-year deal with Keleri, was a full-time starter for the first time in his career in 2022, having been a backup/injury replacement previously with Amnanache, and now he's able to cash that in.
