February 2023 Transactions
Last month of the offseason, with Opening Day on March 1. Still a bit of business to attend to before then, though:
February 3:
3B Taoma Otutsaka signs with Otahel City, 4 years/$16.1MM. Previously played in the EL for Aroketsil Canaries (2016) and Ransu Shockers (2017), with longer stints in the Second League with both teams. 31-year-old who has won the Second League Gold Glove at 3B the last five years in a row.
February 4:
SP Misote Tsumeratsi signs with Westline, 5 years/$46MM. The Westline revamp continues, though with a delayed start as Tsumeratsi, 33, will not be available until May due to injury suffered with Ransu Shockers last July. Has an EL ring, won with Tsapna in 2012, when he won 23 games. The Ransu native has now played for three of its most historically successful teams.
February 5:
RF Maho Tsimpese signs with Semyof, 1 year/$2.4 million. A surprisingly small deal for Tsimpese, who I would have thought would be asking for 5 years or longer at just the age of 21. Formerly of Akashemo United, Tsimpese gets on base and has a cannon of an outfield arm. Great value for Semyof.
February 9:
SP Uriyoko Tselsiko signs with Lutrul, 1 year/$2 million. This magnitude of signing doesn't normally move my needle, but this is the player whose career I've been tracking due to us sharing a date of birth and our left-handedness. Made 23 starts for Westline last year before being shut down due to injury in July (in fact, on our shared birthday).
February 13:
SS Wyku Tofpalts signs with the Pasataki Galaxy, 8 years/$92 million. That's the biggest domino left to fall, and the location makes perfect sense with the Galaxy having lost a star shortstop of their own this offseason. These guys are going to score a lot - right now, Tofpalts is slated to bat sixth in their lineup, and he nearly won the MVP two years ago.
That pretty much covers it, although obviously I skipped over an awful lot of transactions. Anything that actually might have some import will be covered during the season preview, which will start in the next post.
