Cards news: June 24 -- RHP Halvorsen gets first start, lost for season with elbow injury
The St. Louis Cardinals have learned that right-handed pitcher Gabe Halverson has been lost for the season after suffering an elbow injury in a 6-3 loss to the Miami Marlins on June 24.
Halvorsen, 24, had thrived as a member of the bullpen for most of the season.
But when injuries opened a spot in the rotation.
He was given the opportunity.
It ended with him leaving the game with a sore elbow which was later diagnosed as arthritis related.
He is expected to miss up to four months.
For the season, the 24-year-old pitched in 19 games/one start and went 1-1 with two saves and a 2.01 ERA.
