August 21: vs St. Louis 3-2 W
. WP-Kim (3-0). Starter-Bradley (7 3 2 2 2 6). Rays won this one with 2 in the 9th on a Dunn RBI single and a walk-off wild pitch.

August 22: vs St. Louis 4-0 W
. WP-Witt (2-0, 6 3 0 0 3 5). HR-Montes (24), B.Taylor (6). Rays finished off the sweep behind another brilliant start from Witt, who has a 1.27 ERA in 21.1 IP over 4 starts since coming over at the deadline from the Dodgers.

August 23: vs Seattle 4-6 L. LP-Horton (6-4). Starter-McGee (4.1 6 3 3 1 8). HR-Cermak (32). Cermak's solo shot put them up 4-3 in the 6th but Horton and Hennen combined to cough up 3 runs in the 7th to lose it.

August 24: vs Seattle 4-3 W
. WP-Sheehan (10-7, 7 6 3 3 0 10). S-Klein (31). HR-Dunn (3/19). Rays turned the tables on Seattle by scoring twice in the bottom of the 7th on Dunn's 2-run single after the Mariners went ahead in the top of the inning. Dunn also led off the game with a solo shot and has knocked in 8 runs over his last 4 games.

August 25: vs Seattle 9-5 W (10). WP-Hennen (6-0). Starter-H.Smith (5 5 3 3 1 9). HR-Dunn (4/20), E.Jimenez (1). Eloy Jimenez's first homer as a Ray was a big one - a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th after the Rays had squandered a 5-0 lead. Dunn drove in 2 more with another homer, giving him a 10-RBI week.

August 26: vs Seattle 7-3 W. WP-Bradley (10-8, 5 6 3 3 2 8). S-Maldonado (4). HR-Montes (25). Rays capped a massive week thanks to a massive game from Montes, who drove in 5 with a 2-run homer and a bases-clearing double against his old organization as they roughed up a former Ray in Aaron Civale.

Team record: 82-50
. After going 6-1 this week the Rays now find themselves 11 games up on the Orioles with a magic number to clinch the division of only 21 still in August. Next week: Road trip time with 4 in Toronto followed by 3 in Kansas City.

Players of the Week:

AL: Tyrone Taylor (TEX), 11-24, 3 HR, 5 RBI (could have made a case for Dunn who was 9-26 with 2 HR and 11 RBI).
NL: Lonnie White Jr (MIL), 10-24, 5 HR, 8 RBI

: Milwaukee's veteran slugger Jorge Soler belted career homer #300.
