Sheffield Mountain Hares – September 2060 Monthly Report

Record: 14–12
Start of Month: 70–63
End of Month: 84–75

1. Monthly Summary

September was a month of controlled chaos. The Mountain Hares finished 14–12, looking at times like a precision-engineered race car and at others like a shopping trolley with a wonky wheel. The offence could detonate without warning - particularly in the Portland series - but the pitching staff occasionally lived dangerously, giving up crooked numbers that turned manageable games into uphill hikes.

At the plate, Espen Aas led the charge with a monstrous month: .364/.425/.712, 7 HR, 24 RBI (1.137 OPS). He wasn’t just hot - he was volcanic. Nsen Ngunda (.319/.382/.551, 1.2 WAR) provided steady production, while Mario Maldonado (.346 AVG) and Sergio Rutz (4 HR, 16 RBI) added punch in key spots.

On the mound, the bullpen steadied things when required. Nestor Barrios (3–1, 2.13 ERA, 0.87 WHIP) was the most reliable arm of the month, while closer Sarsour Burhan converted 6 saves with a 2.25 ERA. The rotation carried innings but had its turbulence, some starts were sharp, others pretty blunt.

2. Monthly Awards

Offensive Player of the Month - Espen Aas
.364/.425/.712, 7 HR, 24 RBI

Aas terrorised opposing pitchers all month, pairing patience with thunder. His highlight performance came against Portland when he went 5-for-5 with 7 RBI, powering Sheffield to a blowout win.

Pitcher of the Month – Nestor Barrios
3–1, 2.13 ERA, 0.87 WHIP

Barrios was the stabiliser in relief. In a month where innings could unravel quickly, he consistently shut the door and stranded runners, holding opponents to a .200 average.

3. Game of the Month

September 8 – Sheffield Mountain Hares 14, Portland Jackalopes 4

There are tight wins, and then there are evenings when the bats do the talking from first pitch onward. This was firmly the latter.

Sheffield collected 14 runs on 20 hits, and the tone was set early. Espen Aas delivered a career-type night, going 5-for-5 with a home run and 7 RBI. He opened his account with a solo shot in the second, added a two-run single in the third, and continued stacking damage with run-scoring hits in the sixth and seventh. By the final out, he had reached base in all five plate appearances and driven in half the team’s runs.

The support act was equally persistent. Nsen Ngunda went 5-for-5, while Sergio Rutz added 3 hits of his own. Sheffield did not rely on one swing to win the game. They built innings, extended them, and then built them again, like a team stacking firewood for winter.

On the mound, Alex Sandoval provided the platform. He worked 6.0 innings, allowing 4 hits and just 1 earned run while striking out 5. The bullpen bent briefly but never broke, with Liu-chun Zhang, Aloyshenko Voevodsky, and Josh McLain combining to close out the final frames.

Fourteen runs. Twenty hits. A five-hit, seven-RBI performance. If September had a signature, this was it.
