August 27-September 2, 2029

August 27: at Toronto 1-6 L. LP-Witt (2-1, 5.2 2 2 2 5). HR-Dunn (5/21). It was a 1-1 game in the 6th before Witt allowed the go-ahead run and the bullpen let it get away from there.

August 28: at Toronto 6-5 W
. WP-Kim (4-0). S-Maldonado (5). Starter-McGee (6 7 5 5 2 6). HR-Doughty (11), E.Jimenez (2), Isaac (26). McGee let a 4-1 slip away but they tied it back up in the 8th and won it in the 9th on Isaac's solo homer.

August 29: at Toronto 4-0 W. WP-Sheehan (11-7, 7 3 0 0 1 7). HR-Irish (14), Westburg (15). Sheehan had his second straight dominant start and all 4 runs came in the 3rd including Westburg's 2-run homer.

August 30: at Toronto 1-4 L. LP-Robertson (0-1). Starter-H.Smith (5.1 7 1 1 2 10). It was 1-1 in the 8th when Robertson coughed up a couple of homers, including a 2-run shot to lose it.

August 31: at Kansas City 8-4 W. WP-Bradley (11-8, 5 4 1 1 3 6). HR-Isaac (27), Irish (15), Dunn (6/22). Dunn had his best game as a Ray, stuffing the box score by going 4-5 with a double, homer, two stolen bases, three runs scored and two RBI to lead the offense.

Transaction: September roster expansion time and IF Carlos Colmenarez and P Keyshawn Askew are the callups. Colmenarez has toiled in the Rays' system for several years and the slick fielder but light hitter finally gets the call to the show. Askew gives us another lefty in the pen and he was up briefly in 2027. Both of these guys' days are numbered though as we have some injured players returning later in the month.

September 1: at Kansas City 6-9 L. LP-Witt (2-2, 1.1 8 8 8 3 1). HR-Cermak (33). Witt had been excellent since coming over at the deadline but today he was torched big-time. Down 8-2 after 2 innings they did end up making of game of it but the deficit was too big to overcome.

September 2: at Kansas City 6-5 W (10)
. WP-Kim (5-0). Starter-McGee (5 5 1 1 2 6). HR-P.Meadows (9). Rays blew a 5-1 lead in this one, allowing 3 in the 6th and the tying run in the 9th but bounced back on Ramos' RBI double in the 10th to win it. Colmenarez had an RBI double in his big-league debut.

Team record: 86-53
. The magic number to clinch the division is down to 14. Next week: Monday off, two against Atlanta at home, Thursday off, and then we travel to New York to play 3 against the Mets.
