Despite a 3-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies, the Chicago Cubs are champions of the National League Central Division.
Owners of an 86-63 record, the Cubs lead the division by 14 games over the Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers with 13 games left on the schedule.
The Cubs trail the NL West-leading San Francisco Giants by 25 games for the best record in the National League.
Chicago last reached the playoffs in 2027.
The Cubs last trip to the World Series came in 2016, when they defeated the Cleveland Indians in seven games.
