Game 3: Easy Town 12, Quincy 3
Road Win Lifts Easy Town to 2-1 Lead in SSS
Riding the 3-hit performance of third baseman Halep Gutteridge, the Easy Town Assaultrons got a road win against the Quincy Granites, 12-3, in Game 3 of the Sole Survivor Series. Gutteridge was 3-5 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Assaultrons, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.
Easy Town relied on the hitting of Bill Barnes to pick up the win. The catcher ripped a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Assaultrons on top, 5-1. For the game, Barnes had 1 triple and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
Quincy manager Scrappy Barios said: "We'll rinse this one off and get ready for the next game."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Stone House in Quincy.
Game 4: Quincy 6, Easy Town 4
Hop Blasts Assaultrons, Granites Take Game 4, 6-4
Quincy right fielder Brad Hop was the difference-maker for the Granites in what turned into a shootout with the Easy Town Assaultrons. Hop earned accolades after going 3-for-5 in the 6-4 Granites win. With the victory, the Granites moved into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series.
A key moment came with one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Hop hit a fastball from Cohort Williams for a 3-run home run, putting Quincy up, 5-1.
"I felt good up there," said Hop. "I saw the ball well."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Stone House in Quincy.
Game 5: Easy Town 3, Quincy 1
Road Win Lifts Easy Town to 3-2 Lead in SSS
Game 5 was big. So was Red Eagle.
The Easy Town starter rose to the occasion at The Stone House, leading the Assaultrons to a crucial 3-1 victory over the Quincy Granites. Eagle threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball as the Assaultrons won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Sole Survivor Series.
Bill Barnes came through with a big-time hit for Easy Town. The catcher smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Red went out and got the job done," said Assaultrons manager Malik Christmasstory.
Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday at Easy Town Field in Easy Town.
