Season Awards
Batting Champion – Philadelphia C Sancho Guerra (.366) won the eastern league title whilst in the west Phoenix 1B Domingo Vargas (.351) held off teammate Brandon Spence (.347) to take the title.
Homerun Champion – Baltimore 3B Justin Shelby (45) finished comfortably ahead of the chasing pack to claim the EL title. Domingo Vargas (41) held Phoenix teammate RF Brandon Spence at bay, to top the WL homerun charts.
Outstanding Hitter – Baltimore star Justin Shelby (.347, 45 HR, 130 RBI) was the unanimous choice for the award in the east, over in the west there was also only going to be one winner, Phoenix 1B Domingo Vargas (.351, 41 HR, 138 RBI) who became the fourth player (joining Dixon Bodean (3), Gabriel Mendez and Matt Henderson) to achieve a batting triple crown.
Outstanding Pitcher – Indianapolis star Cristobal Chapa (17-6, 2.28 ERA) turned back the clock, producing a stunning campaign to claim his second Outstanding Pitcher award nine years on from his first. In the west the award went to Sanfrancisco’s big off-season signing Bryan Marburg (18-4,1.94 ERA).
Rookie of the Year – New Orleans LF Liam Hawkins (.316, 22 HR, 66 RBI) was the standout rookie in the east comfortably holding off Charlotte’s 22-year-old 1B Pete Daniels to take the EL award. The WL silverware went to LA shortstop Javier Garcia (.227, 17 HR, 59 RBI, 45 SB) who edged Seattle pitcher Cole Simpson (10-2, 1.73 ERA in 69 games) in the voting.
Manager of the Year – Detroit skipper Ramon Acosta claimed the EL award after a fantastic bounce-back from a very disappointing first campaign to lead the Giants to 92-wins and a postseason berth. In the west Sanfrancisco manager Cipriano Gonzalez collected his third MOY award for leading Sanfrancisco to the World Series title.

Interesting Facts – Phoenix became the first team in NABL history to have four players hit 100+ RBI’s in the same season, 1B Domingo Vargas (138), RF Brandon Spence (119), C Oliver McKenzie (105) and LF Adrian Ramirez (102), the quartet combined to drive in 50.8% of the Eagles runs. 23-year-old Indianapolis Reliever Lance Harris was dominant throughout the season, collecting 42 saves and striking out 127 batters in just 82.1 IP, setting a new NABL single-season strikeout record for a relief pitcher. St. Louis ace Les Scott struck out 312 batters for his fifth career 300+ K campaign, (the only other player to record multiple 300K seasons was Larry de Meza with 3).
