Cards news: May 31 -- Strained hamstring to sideline CF Mayea for up to three months
The St. Louis Cardinals have learned that center fielder Brando Mayea is expected to miss up to three months after he suffered a strained hamstring while running the bases in a 7-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on May 30.
Mayea, 28, had played in 44 games/all starts this season and hit .233 with four home runs and 17 RBIs.
His place on the roster will be taken by 27-year-old outfielder Jesus Rodriguez who will be called up from AAA Memphis.
In 50 games/48 starts, Rodriguez has hit .314 with two homers and 21 RBIs.
He does have some major league experience -- having played for the Cubs, Marlins, Athletics and Brewers -- during that time he has hit .247 with 60 homer and 344 RBIs in 1007 games/930 starts/
