PAM's CYL Picks: CIT Academy vs West Quincy
There are 136 youth teams in the CYL all across the New England Commonwealth. In the 50-game CYL season, PAM sees two teams standing out: CIT Academy of the North Region and West Quincy of the South Region. The Worcester Crows defeated the Pawtucket Paw Sox in the 2316 Youth Series.
Each of the regions sends 24 teams to the playoffs. All even division winners and the top two wildcards get byes, while the other 16 teams battle it out in the single-elimination tournament. The Youth Series is a three-game series.

In the North Region, the top five contenders for the Slugger Supreme Award are 2B Juggernaut Sorrell, Sr, CIT Academy; 1B Lee Marr, Sr, Portsmouth; 2B Radar Razz, Sr, Great Diamond; LF Enjoyable Everett Dexter, Sr, Marlborough; and C Carl Ireland, Sr, Lexington. 1B Worm Sanders, Sr, North Charles Bank, was the 2317 winner.
For the Mound Ace Award, the top contenders in the North Region are: SP Wand Engill, Jr, Castle; SP Rhubarb Coombs, Sr, Gloucester; SP Eagle Eye Hayes, Sr, Marblehead; SP Specs Blake, Jr, Far Harbor; and SP Livewire Moore, Sr, Great Diamond. Hayes has won the last two awards. He is looking to join Paul Stains (2304-2306) as the only other three-time winner. Hayes is one of five players who have won two or more Mound Ace Awards.
The top contenders for the South Region's Slugger Supreme Award are: 1B Florante Lisao, Sr, Nauset Beach; RF Fertile Fernandez, Sr, Collegetown; 1B Dimmy Suciu, Sr, Coventry; 3B Wacko Mullins, Sr, Plymouth; and SS Beast Reid, Sr, Jamaica Plain. Third-overall pick Alvin Dark of the Sandwich Screamers was the 2317 winner.
The five top contenders for the Mound Ace Award are: SP Monny Madman, Sr, Bridgewater; SP Bryce Yaag, Jr, Truro; SP Ernie Maxload, Sr, Hadley Falls; SP L.T. Stone, Fr, Nuka Academy; and SP Sheridon Carr, Sr, West Quincy. SP Chad Church, So, Taunton, won the award as a freshman last season. He is not in PAM's top ten this preseason.
