Cards news: August 16 -- Elbow injury will end season for RHP Aneuris Rodriguez
The St. Louis Cardinals have placed right-handed relief pitcher Aneuris Rodriguez on the 60-day injured list after he was diagnosed with a redial nerve injury in his elbow.
Rodriguez suffered the injury while pitching in a 5-0 loss to the Detroit Tigers on August 9.
The injury is expected to sideline him for up to nine month.
The Cardinals acquired the 30-year-old during the offseason in the Rule 5 draft.
In 18 games, two of them starts, he was 2-0 with one save and a 4.50 ERA.
He will be replaced on the roster by right-handed relief pitcher Warren Wilder.
Wilder, 29, has pitched in one game for St. Louis this season pitching a scoreless inning.
At AAA Memphis, he has pitched in relief 27 times going 5-0 with one save and a 3.08 ERA.
