Cards news: Nov. 13 -- Shortstop Gustavo Melendez wins his first Silver Slugger
The St. Louis Cardinals have learned that shortstop Gustavo Melendez has earned a Silver Slugger for the best hitter in the National League at his position.
In 131 games/129 starts, Melendez hit .248 with 12 home runs, 64 RBIs, 73 runs scored and 30 stolen bases.
All those statistics were career-highs.
