He's the one the Cardinals let get away, if I remember correctly, or was that Arozena or whatever his name is, the first player? As for the more recent seasons, I've kind of lost track of most of them, at least, over the last few years, at least, under Manfred, if not also under Selig. Who are both probably two of the worst Commissioners, if not the worst two, for MLB in history, as far as I'm concerned, and I believe many others might feel similarly to me here and now.
Baseball should never have gone to three divisions or resorted to Wild Cards, even if by doing so, that actually then allowed my favorite team to win at least one World Series, and/or other teams to do the same, in my view. Or instituted the DH, for example, in truth. But the rather unfortunate reality is that the universal DH is likely to stay present under the current inept leadership of Manfred and others here, in any case. Most, if not all, of the changes in baseball for the last 30-plus years have most likely been terrible ones, such as the ghost runner, the pitch clock, the general unwillingness of teams to let their starters go deeper into games, the increased numbers of pitchers on team rosters, when most of the players on those rosters should generally be position players, in actual reality, it seems to me. For 25-man rosters, I'd generally recommend no more than ten pitchers on an active roster at any time, if even that many. And let the starters pitch as long as they're doing so effectively, no matter how many pitches they may throw in a game, while we're at it. Just like the best players played nearly all the time in baseball history up through the beginnings of modern-day bullpen usage here like it's been developing over the past few years, if not decades, at that.
