CBO Playoffs 2318: Wildcard Round Results
NCA: #6 Concord Radstags vs #3 Lexington Synths
Game 1: Lexington 5, Concord 1
Wildcard Round Game 1 Victory for Noluh and Lexington
The Lexington Synths powered past the visiting Concord Radstags, 5-1, in the opener of the Wildcard Round at Super Duper Mart Stadium. Lexington starting pitcher Aaron Noluh threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Synths now lead the series 1-0.
Dude Lebowski dealt the Radstags a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with a runner on 1st and Lexington leading 1-0, Lebowski, who finished 2nd in the NCA in triples with 10 last year, hit a first pitch slider for a run-scoring double.
Said losing manager Chris Barrientos: "Give the Synths credit. They played a better game than we did."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Super Duper Mart Stadium in Lexington.
Game 2: Concord 8, Lexington 7
Radstags Clip Synths, 8-7, in WCR Contest
With first baseman Two Shoes Rivera leading the charge, the Concord Radstags got a road win over the Lexington Synths, 8-7, in Game 2 of the Wildcard Round. Rivera was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once at Super Duper Mart Stadium to help Concord force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-3 series.
With the game tied, 4-4, in the top of the seventh, Rivera had a key at-bat for Concord. With a runner on 3rd, Rivera hit a run-scoring single off Slush Fundz, making the score 5-4, Radstags.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Rivera.
The next game is set to be played for Saturday, September 7th , 2318 at Nuka Park in Concord.
Game 3: Lexington 3, Concord 1
Lexington Takes Wildcard Round in Deciding Game
The Lexington Synths are off to the Association Semifinal Round after an exciting Wildcard Round triumph.
Lexington downed the Concord Radstags, but needed the entire series to do so, with a 3-1 win tonight at Nuka Park wrapping up the series 2-1.
"It's every guy in this room that made this happen. Without us all pulling in the same direction, we don't win this series," said Dude Lebowski, who earned MVP honors for a standout offensive series.
Lebowski put up a .462 with a .462 on-base percentage in the series. He also had 1 home runs, drove in 4 runs and scored 4 runs himself.
The Lexington Synths will play against the The Slog Ghouls in the next round. The Slog had a bye in the Wildcard Round. The Association Semifinal Round schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Round finishes.
NCA: #5 Cambridge Coursers vs #4 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud
Game 1: Cambridge 4, Fort Hagen 3
Road Win Lifts Cambridge to 1-0 Lead in WCR
The Cambridge Coursers powered past the hometown Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, 4-3, in the opener of the Wildcard Round at Hubris Comics Park. Cambridge starting pitcher Malik Watts threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Coursers now lead the series 1-0.
Watts allowed 2 runs over 7 innings. He also racked up 9 strikeouts.
"We found a way to get it done," Watts said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hubris Comics Park in Fort Hagen.

Coursers Heading to Association Semifinal Round

The Cambridge Coursers are on to the Association Semifinal Round after a convincing series win over the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud.
Cambridge wrapped up the series sweep with a 5-2 win in the last game, to take the series 2-0.
"We expected to win and we executed the way we needed to," said Clownie Blammo, who was named series MVP.
For the series, Blammo hit .500 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 0 runs.
The Cambridge Coursers will play against the Starlight Killers in the next round. Starlight had a bye in the Wildcard Round. The Association Semifinal Round schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Round finishes.
SCA: #6 FHE Yao Guai vs #3 Vault 81 Dwellers
Game 1: Vault 81 6, FHE 2
Wildcard Round Game 1 Victory for Million and Vault 81
The Vault 81 Dwellers powered past the visiting FHE Yao Guai, 6-2, in the opener of the Wildcard Round at CURIE Inc. Field. Vault 81 starting pitcher Zack Million threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Dwellers now lead the series 1-0.
In his 115-pitch effort, Million allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 7.2 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 6.
"I thought we played a nice game," Million told the Vault 81 Observer. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at CURIE Inc. Field in Boston.
Game 2: Vault 81 8, FHE 7
Dwellers Cruise to Association Semifinal Round with Sweep
With a 8-7 victory at CURIE Inc. Field, the Vault 81 Dwellers have completed a sweep of the FHE Yao Guai in the Wildcard Round.
"On to the Association Semifinal Round and feeling good," said Pockets Wrench. "I don't think our guys expected a sweep, but we'll certainly take it and rest up a bit."
For the series, Wrench hit .500 and won series MVP honors. He had 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 1 runs.
The Vault 81 Dwellers will play against the Southie Brews in the next round. Southie had a bye in the Wildcard Round. The Association Semifinal Round schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Round finishes.
SCA: #5 Jamaica Plain Red Rockets vs #4 Egret Ninjas
Game 1: Jamaica Plain 9, Egret 3
Kim Blasts Ninjas, Red Rockets Take Game 1, 9-3
With first baseman Hax Kim leading the charge, the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets got a road win over the Egret Ninjas, 9-3, in Game 1 of the Wildcard Round. Kim went 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina to help Jamaica Plain take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series.
Jamaica Plain used the hitting of Tre' Morgueman to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Red Rockets on top, 2-0. For the game, Morgueman had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Kim, "one at-bat at a time."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina in Egret Tours Marina.
Game 2: Jamaica Plain 7, Egret 0
Red Rockets Win Wildcard Round
It's a sweet sweep for the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets and they have won the Wildcard Round. The Egret Ninjas were not able to keep pace with the Red Rockets and dropped the series in short order, losing, 7-0, in the deciding game.
"This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said Egret manager Matt Ballhawk Getman.
It's now on to the Association Semifinal Round for Jamaica Plain after their 2-0 series win.
Leading the way for the winners was catcher Hax Kim, who was named MVP. For the series, Kim hit .571 with a .700 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 2 runs.
The Jamaica Plain Red Rockets will play against the Diamond City Swatters in the next round. Diamond City had a bye in the Wildcard Round. The Association Semifinal Round schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Round finishes.
