The Tampa Smokers started their 1947 season with a scheduled 5 game homestand on the field against Miami and St. Petersburg at Plant Field. They were successful in a huge way in these games.

The Smokers win the season opener holding on from a stiff Miami charge, as Webb for Miami had 5 hits but it wasn't enough.

Tampa scores in just 2 innings, but 3 runs in each, and vault to a four run victory.
4/3: TPA 11, SPT 2; W: Rubert (1-0), L: Munsinger (0-1); HR: TPA- Murphy (1); SPT: Campos (1); A- 688
A dominant performance against St. Petersburg their local rival, scoring in the first 6 innings to start the game, including 3 hits from the pitcher Rubert! Lamar Murphy had 5 RBIs.
4/4: TPA 13, SPT 2; W: Gonzalez (1-0), L: Elkins (0-1), HR: TPA- Murphy (2), Gonzalez (1), Fernandez (1); A- 801
Another great game for the Smokers, as the pitcher Gonzalez hits a 3 run HR and they pepper 15 hits on Saints pitching.
4/5 was postponed due to rain, will be played May 17.
