Game 1: 3-4 L. LP-Fragoso (3-2). Starter-Whitehead (6 7 3 3 2 5). Rays couldn't hold an early 3-0 lead in this one and Fragoso gave up the winner in the 7th.
Game 2: 0-1 L. LP-Vargas (7-8, 6 4 1 1 1 4). Vargas was excellent but the bats weren't, held to 4 hits by future HOFer Robert Ahlstrom (180 career wins and 80 WAR) over 8 innings.
Transaction: Hugo Najera comes off the IL to start the finale and Javy Espinoza is optioned back to Durham.
Game 3: 5-1 W. WP-Najera (14-2, 6 4 0 0 2 6). S-Salazar (1). HR-K.White (41), Haro (17). The triumphant return of Najera and a 3-run 4th salvaged the finale for the Rays. The lefty didn't miss a beat from his two-week absence and lowered his MLB-best ERA to 1.49.
Team record: 75-49. Despite losing the series the Rays lost no ground to Baltimore and continue to hold an 8-game lead. Next up: A day off then we're in Texas for 3.
