Special announcement: Four league champions to meet in special playoff at season’s end
For the past two seasons, the champions of the Carolina League and North Carolina State League have met each other in a special best-of-seven series to determine the ultimate champ of the Old North State.
That special playoff will expand this season to include the Coastal Plain League and Tobacco State League.
The special Champions Playoff series will be held once all of the league championships have been decided in early October.
The current pairings will pit the Tobacco State League champ vs the Carolina League champ and the Coastal Plain League champ vs. the North Carolina State League champ in the semifinals. The winners will collide in a best-of-seven winner-take-all event for the title of Best Baseball Team in North Carolina

1945 – Burlington Bees def. Concord Weavers 4-1
1946 – Greensboro Patriots def. Concord Weavers 4-0

Nick Pfau told reporters after the Weavers’ 4-1 win over Thomasville on Aug. 3. Pfau leads the Weavers with a .333 average and .409 on-base percentage. First, they have to win the North Carolina State League.
