The UK's Scott Fitzgerald got a 2nd crack at a world title after a previous title shot (Abass Baraou for the WBA) ended in the 10th due to a cut. Scott lead on 2 of the cards & was tied on the 3rd card.

Bud Crawford moving out of the 154 pound division lead to this vacancy & the WBO tabbed former WW champ, Boot Ennis, as the other fighter for the vacant belt.

For the 1st 4 rounds both fighters gave as good as they received. Then in the 5th, Boots took it to another level putting a real beating on Scott & a combo dropped the Brit for a 3 count.

Boots went out to finish matters in the 6th & ended it at 2:54 with a right hook.

Boots was up on all 3 cards: 48-47, 48-46, 49-45.

Ennis also up on PL: 135 (32%) to 126 but Scott landed an astounding 61% of his punches.
