I watched some highlights of Gerhard Zech vs Sonny Liston and here are my thoughts.
Zech had decent handspeed and hit Liston with some good punches. He also took some decent Liston bombs. Zech liked to throw the straight left from the southpaw stance. The announcer said that Liston was leading in the seventh round but having all kinds of trouble with Zech's awkward style. Liston landed a right-left combo that would have knocked out pretty much anyone except superchins and it knocked Zech down. Zech got up and appeared to be able to continue, but the overcautious referee stopped the fight. I was impressed by Zech in the 5 minute highlight I watched. Zech appeared to be able to fight off the ropes pretty well also.
