Joyner's career was a tale of 2 entirely different stages. The first part, 1954 thru 1964 he was 19-9-3 with 9 KO's. He was stopped himself twice. He fought no one though of any consecuence. He beat a hard working journeyman of the 50's by the name of Rusty Payne(41-24-1 lifetime) who was ending the end of his career in 1958-59, and Joyner defeated a LHW by the name of Alvin Williams who accumulated a 53-35-7 record in the 50's. In July 1961 he defeated a Dave Furch for the Arizona State Heavyweight Title. He KO'd in the 1st a guy named Don Quinn in March 1964 who was 21-7-0 at the time.
Then he lost 8 straight fights by KO's! The first 6 he lasted 3 or fewer rounds. The last two he was KO'd in the 7th. He lost those 8 fights to Franco DePiccoli, George Logan, Zora Folley, Billy Daniels, Manuel Ramos, Mac Foster and Tony(Kid)Longoria.
Joyner then managed a 5 round decision win over a Lee Estes(1-3-0) before he was stopped in two fights in 1968 by Tony Doyle to end his career.
