Vic Brown - USA Rating 1
Heavyweight 1963-1982
27 wins / 29 losses / 0 draw / 19 KO
Alias: Roger Black
Hometown: Buffalo, NY
Manager: Johnny Sudac
Original Rating by: Billy Dennis
Some Revisions by: Rocco Del Sesto
Lost fights to Alvin(Blue) Lewis, George Chuvalo(Twice), Ray Anderson, Aaron Eastling, Bob Stallings, Tony Doyle, Ernie Terrell, Ken NOrton, Floyd Patterson, Roy(Tiger) Williams. Finished his career with 10 straight lost fights.
Most noteable wins including those over Burke Emery(45-15-2 LHW), Willie Ray Richardson, Von clay, Bill Drover, Ron Marsh, the 60's Harold Carter and Charley Polite.
Interesting how his career was a rollercoster starting out a less then illustrious 9-11-0, then he peaked in the middle going 18-8 before falling apart with the 10 straight losses at the end.
Billy Daniels' original creation of Brown is posted in cornerwork. With some play testing I did some revisions of my own to it which I used in the replay fight.
The Fight....
Coming into 1967, Chuvalo is coming off 6 straight victories all by stoppages after having lost a 10 round Majority Decision to Oscar Bonavena in June the previous year. That loss coming only two fights after loosing his 15 round UD World Heavyweight Fight with Ali. Vic Brown is coming off 5 straight wins himself in the later half of 1966, the last being a 2nd round KO of Bill Drover. Previous to that he’d lost 5 straight including a 1st round TKO to Alvin (Blue) Lewis. Their fight back in 1967 lasted into the 4th round when Chuvalo knocked out Brown.
Our replay was not much unlike the fight in 1967. I scheduled this as an 8 rounder. Chuvalo, simply dominated this fight. In round 1, Chuvalo throws all sorts of combination of punches, putting Brown on the defensive from the start. Chuvalo outpoints Brown 21-0 in the round. Round 2 starts with Brown surprising Chuvalo with a crushing right to the head seconds into the round. George comes right back though scoring a hard hook. After that is much the same as the 1st round, with Chuvalo pointing Brown 19-4. In round 3, Chuvalo lands a wicked cross to Brown’s head and drops Vic to the canvas, but Brown manages to get himself up in 7. Chuvalo keeps up the heat out pointing brown 14-0 before Brown manages to land but then at 2:37 in round 3, Chuvalo landed a short, clean cross that catches Brown flush, dropping him with that shot. Again, Brown manages to get to his feet, this time in 8, but he’s obviously very shaken with that last punch and finally at 2:51 in the 3rd round, the referee stops the fight. Winner by 3rd round TKO, George Chuvalo. George had out pointed Brown in that last round 27-3. This was probably one of the more lopsided fights thus far I’ve seen.
