Egerton defeated Art Bayliss to take the NABF Light Heavyweight Title in 1992 which he defended three times before losing to Henry Maske in 1995. Maske had defeated Marcus in the 1988 Olympic Middleweight Gold Medel match. Following the loss to Maske, Marcus stepped up to the Cruiserweight division battling unsuccesfully for the WBC Continental Americas and WBO NABO belts. Then he lost a bid at the IBO Intercontinental Heavyweight Title and finaly lost to Razor Ruddock in a bid for the Canadian Heavyweight Title in 2001. Overall, a relatively inactive fighter with only 21 bouts over a twelve year career.
