ARTHUR CHAMBERS LW
Born - Salford, Lancashire, England
11(9)-1-2 (Boxrec shows 8(5)-0-1)
Chambers was an early claimant to the Lightweight Championship of America. He fought in England through 1871 then traveled to the USA where he fought bouts with Johnny Clark, George Seddons and Billy Edwards. In 1876 or 1877, he had a finger amputated and had to retire from the ring, vacating his title. In 1879, Chambers came out of retirement to battle Johnny Clark for the title once more in Chippewa Falls, Canada. The bout was won by Chambers on a knockout in the 136th round! He retired for good following this epic battle with Clark.
