Fictional League w/ Historical modifiers
I started a fictional universe for 1901. All the leagues have been set to have historical accuracy and player creation modifiers adjusted and imported, respectively.
After the inaugural draft, the best players on teams do not have ratings anything like those that players imported into a 1901 historical league do. I have a bunch of guys with 85+ power ratings, for example. Pitchers do not have the low stuff and high movement ratings. Is this an issue or is there something I can do to get these leagues to realistically replicate MLB history? EDIT: Also, in every player's personal history, it shows him being drafted twice, sometimes by 2 different teams, sometimes by the same team. Last edited by jte87; 06-02-2006 at 10:18 PM. |

I'm wondering if the initial creation is properly modified. I'm pretty sure subsequent rookies are, but I'm very skeptical about the inaugural group.

Give me a few minutes to finish up some historical league testing and I will try this out and see if your thought is correct. It seems a logical cause for the problem.

Okay, I think I found the problem for jte87's high ratings.
My guess is that you enabled the automatically import historical player creation modifiers prior to changing the start year of the league from 2006 to 1901. When I first set up the league I clicked the checkmark to enable the modifiers but my year was still 2006. When I changed the year to 1901 the modifiers did not change. However, as soon as I unclicked and then reclicked on the automatically import historical modifier button the modifiers changed to be inline with 1901. I would not call this a bug but I will post it for Markus to look at and see if the modifier can automatically change when you change the year. It is tagged as TT#1616

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I tried to sim anyway until the first amateur draft (before reading any of these replies) to see if those players were more inline with the historical players. But the game crashed in mid-April. As for your theory, Tigerfan, I will try it again and see, but I am almost certain this was not the case. I believe setting the year as 1901 was the very first thing I did. It will take me a while to set this up again, I'll report back my findings. |

It was the only thing I could do to duplicate your issue so I am hoping that is the cause.

This does appear to be the issue. The modifiers changed this time. I must have fiddled with about 10 different universes so far, and I think I have changed the year first in all of them, but I suppose I may have overlooked it here and not had a recollection of it.
Thanks once again, TigerFan. Your insights are invaluable. Let's hope it won't crash during the season again. If it doesn't I am off with the universe I want. |

I just finished creating the whole universe, and on the last league, I began editing pitcher usage and endurance and bunts and all that before checking the boxes to automatically adjust stuff. When I did this, the modifiers once again did not change once I checked the boxes. I just entered them manually from what the other leagues had.
But I just wanted to point out that this is another way for this to happen, if any one needs the information. |
