Possible bug, a question, & an observation

Just simming away in my fun league, and I noticed this little oddity. The "Alexander Bourett Honour" is my ROY Award

Quote:
10-16-1969 Won the 1969 League of The League Lord Henry Cup with the Northern Raiders!
10-28-1969 Won the 1969 LGL AL Alexander Bourett Honour.
11-10-1969 Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $350,000 through automatic renewal.
01-01-1970 SISA scouting updated ratings (potential): Stuff: 12 (12); Movement: 17 (17); Control: 16 (20).
03-02-1970 Injured (Dead Arm), out for 1-2 weeks.
04-11-1970 Pitches a 6-hit shutout against the Philidelphia Orange Roenicks with 12 strikeouts and 0 BB allowed!
05-01-1970 Won the LGL AL Pitcher of the Month Award.
05-17-1970 Injured (Strained Back Muscle), out for 1-2 weeks.
06-12-1970 Pitches a 4-hit shutout against the Chicago Red Roenicks with 13 strikeouts and 0 BB allowed!
06-15-1970 Was selected to the 1970 League of The League All-Star Game.
06-27-1970 Pitches a 4-hit shutout against the San Diego Captains with 9 strikeouts and 1 BB allowed!
07-01-1970 Won the LGL AL Pitcher of the Month Award.
08-07-1970 Pitches a 3-hit shutout against the Philidelphia Orange Roenicks with 11 strikeouts and 0 BB allowed!
09-01-1970 Won the LGL AL Pitcher of the Month Award.
09-01-1970 Won the LGL AL Rookie of the Month Award.
10-27-1970 Won the 1970 LGL AL Alexander Bourett Honour.
10-29-1970 Won the 1970 LGL AL Greggeth Maddux Award.
I don't think that is suppose to happen.

Non-Rookies winning New Comer of the Year

I have seen players with better first years than second years winning it in their second year... Is this being patched???

Possible bug, a question, & an observation

This is all post patch.
Bug A: At the end of first season I simmed day by day to see the award winners. The "Manager of the Year" award never occured.
Bug B: After receiving trade offer i attempt to "Discuss Further". While on that page I check for other players I may want to add to the deal. When I right click back in order to do that I find the trade offer listed as having expired. This is on the same date it was received.

Observation: The game need a new definition of a newcomer or rookie. My League 1 top newcomer winner was a 25 yr old hitter with three years experience and over 1400 at bats under his belt. Hardly a rookie. My League 2 top newcomer was a Closer with over 120 appearences ovber three years. Rookie definitions were fine in 6.5 and this should be easy to fix.

Question: On the trade screen there is an opinion given as to the perceived weaknesses of each team. Whose opinion is this? Your scouts or some general league opinion of the teams. Also, could this opinion be inacurate?

Love the game.

Hi GBS,

Let me try to answer some of this, sorry for the delay...

This, unfortunately, isn't a bug, because there is no "Manager of the Year" award in this version.

This has already been reported and logged. Unfortunately, at this time we don't have a fix for this issue, nor a timeline for the fix. This is TT # 1486

This is actually a bug. I logged it as # 1802.

I actually don't know the answer to this right now. I'll try to find out.

Alright, that wasn't terribly helpful, but it's the best I can do right now.

Au contraire, it is a bug, because the Manager of the Year Award announcement date is one of the dates you can sim to from the baseball menu. (Or whatever you call the menu with the baseball pic instead of a menu name.) Perhaps you just need to remove it from this menu, then.

Rookie of the year is no rookie!

I saw this thread a while back but can not find it.

This is post-patch-1:

'League News':

Wednesday, August 9th, 1961: USA Newcomer of the Year Award Snared by Hayden Second Baseman Smollett
Roy Smollett turned a lot of heads in Hayden this past season, putting together a solid rookie campaign. Today he claimed the 1961 Newcomer of the Year Award. The 29-year-old second baseman played in 37 games, batted .423, belted 5 homeruns, scored 26 times and drove in 37 runs to lay claim to the prize. His inaugural season was a great start in his budding baseball career.

One problem:

He had a pretty good 1960 season:

1960 HAYD - USA 34 118 39 8 1 1 14 17 12 1 1 18 1 0 .331 .394 .441 .835 8.1

I think has already been reported? Is it going to be fixed? Also, Awards in browser for league doesn't seem to show all awards? (Coach of the year, ROY, etc...)

118 AB right? Rookies can retain their rookie status the next year as long as they're under 130 AB total from previous seasons, so this seems ok on first glance of your post.

I posted about my problem (a player winning two straight ROYs!), but it doesn't look like it got a TT# or anything.

The thing about rookie eligibility is it is defined as less than 130 AB or fewer than 45 days on any major league roster.

I'm fairly certain that a guy who has 118 AB but more than 45 days of experience doesn't qualify as a rookie, and a guy who gets 132 AB in 30 days (pretend he plays for those early '90s Tigers that seemed to score 20 runs a game without trying) also doesn't qualify.

I think the player has to meet both the AB and days-of-service standards to retain his rookie eligibility. Lew Ford apparently wasn't considered a rookie in 2004 despite just 73 career AB for that reason - he had played in 34 games, but he had more than 45 cumulative days of major league service.

Did you make sure he did have more than 45 days of service or 130 AB in his first ROY season?

Ah yes, forgot about service days.

Well, the original post shows 34 games and 118 AB, so its possible he met both requirements in his second season, and kept his rookie status.

The awards system does seem to be a bit off at the moment. Gold Gloves are not set for each position, the Rookie award can go to non Rookies, the awards are listed out of order (and in somecases just wrong as in Manager of the Year) in the Auto-Play to... menu, and MVP awards can go to players who played a majority of their season in a different league.

I realize that ...

BUT

I am playing a 42 game schedule, so I would hope the game would scale down the #s of what makes a rookie eligible the following year by a factor 44/162 :-)

Where is two ROTY in a row reported? Does it have a TT# number? Ive had the same problem once. Regardless of rookie qualifying that should never happen.

Heh, good one. That's TT # 2060. My guess is it will get removed from the menu for now.

OK, moving this thread over to Logged Issues.

I just merged a bunch of stuff into this thread, regarding rookie of the year.

The issue where the same player gets ROY twice, and where non-rookies win ROY, are all in TT #1802, which is still in progress.

Thanks, all,

Steve

This has been claimed to be fixed, but has not been verified yet, and I'm not sure it will make it into the patch due out today. If not, definitely the next one, which isn't too far off.

Thanks!
