OOTP 8.0.0.12 - Online leagues

Have copied across the folder .lg into the saved_games folder in OOTP 8.
Loaded up an online league game (sucessfully).
Tried to "check for updated league files"
all I get is
"error:could not open a connection to the FTP server" .
Have used OOTP2007 and it worked OK.
Am I doing something wrong?

(ver 8.0.0.12 )

Does OOTP8 and OOTP2007 connect to the internet in different ways?
Or check for internet connection if different ways?
This is because when I installed OOTP8 I could not licence it online.
(It reported I had no internet connection...but I did).I had to licence it off-line even though I was online at the time.
Now I can't unlicence it to try an un-install/re-install.
Just to reiterate...
My problem appears that with the same on-line league file I can update using OOTP2007 but not OOTP8.

No, you aren't doing anything wrong that I can tell. Maybe their server was down for a short while? Can you confirm that other players in the league are able to download files at the same time that you are having trouble?

You jumped in and responded just as I was doing so. Hrm. I don't think that you should need to unlicense it to uninstall and reinstall - the license should remain intact.

I may have changed some settings in the connections tab of the internet options (Internet Explorer) when I had a problem with my anti-virus last week.But I have changed them back now.
Still wouldn't explain how OOTP2007 and OOTP8 see my internet connection differently!?!
Unless they look for different things....maybe.

Still no joy.
Reluctant to uninstall without unlicencing as I have this nagging feeling.....
Does OOTP take a snap-shot of the internet settings when it's first installed? Or does it take the settings everytime it tries to update the files?
Not sure if Markus or Andreas could shed some light...which might help me sort this problem out.

It was a problem with my personal firewall (Zonealarms).
It allows OOTP2007....but not OOTP8.
All I seem able to do it turn it off when I update my on-line leagues.
