Importing Leagues

I've never done this before. If I create a league in OOTP12 and import it to v. 13 will I lose anything in the process?

I know, back up my saves first.

I want to create a new league but don't want to waste effort making it unique if I'm going to scrap it in three months. At the same time, three months is a long time to wait

You should have no problems but yes, make a back-up before importing.

I'm curious if things like the new rules for free agency, draft pick compensation, salary arbitration, and amateur draft, etc. are automatically updated or not when converting an OOTP 12 league, or if that is something you manually can choose whether or not to do.

The settings will remain the old CBA by default, you can manually update to the new mode in the league setup.

Importing checklist (modern MLB setup):

1. Backup ootp12 league
2. Install v13
3. import v12 league
4. Check all league settings, especially finance settings
5. Add custom views back into game (tables folder from v12)
6. Check trade settings (back to default for now)
7. Make sure league evolution is off (unless you haven't moved Houston yet, I did that last season)
8. Check to make sure playoff settings are correct (2 wildcards) and new CBA is enabled.
9. Update any mods that need it. (LGO schedules, put those back in)
10. Spends hours looking at everything to make sure import was a success.

Drink a beer.. (optional)

Just thinking out loud...

Sounds about right. Backup the league, import the league, and scour the game to make sure the settings are all perfect.

No offense to Markus and Co., but this is my first rodeo with the importing a league, and I thus am fully expecting something to go wrong. It is just in my nature. Prepare and expect the worst. It covers my ### and I get the added bonus of that oh so good feeling when it turns out everything went smoothly.

I usually wait until after the World Series, but this year, I'm going to import right after the regular season. Since I only play the playoff games, if I make it, I'm eager to see the new widgets screen.
