New to OOTP

Im still torn on purchasing this game or now, as I have never played OTTP before. I know I will be overwhelmed at first with options etc. Is there a tutorial or guide to help the absolute newbies of this game?

First of all, welcome! I hope you find OOTP a rich experience. I'd recommend messing around with a simple league, not worrying about the results. Just get familiar with the menus, options, screens, etc. Also, check out the following:

Videos (for earlier versions): Out of the Park Baseball

Manual: Out of the Park Baseball Manual

And by all means, feel free to post your questions on the forums. It usually takes no time at all for someone to respond.

To be honest start out with MLB quick start then after you play a few years then figure out the options,, and come on the fourm and read the posts of other people or search up something because we all have things we dont always get or wonder about.

If your really that new play the demos to get the feel of the game.

With OOTP there is no wrong way to do things.

Historical. Fictional. Your favorite team of all time. That "what if only they had" thought you have had percolating in the back of your brain. OOTP can handle them all and so much more.

You don't need to know all the buttons, menus, reports, and customization possibilities to start.

Just create a league and have fun.

I have a few suggestions before you begin. If you have a lawn mow it as short as you can. Down to the dirt. Fill your frig. Buy another one and fill that too. Purchase cards for birthdays, holidays, any, and all. Fill them out, address, and stamp them now. If you decorate for Christmas you might want to put up your lights and tree before you start playing OOTP.

This game can take over your life. It is that good.

One last thing. The OOTP family is second to none. The individuals that contribute to these forums are incredible. They go way over and beyond to help you. The mods they create can make you feel like your baseball world is real.

Oh, then there are the online leagues. That topic can wait for another day.

Welcome to Ootp, you will feel overwhelmed at first with the amount of options that this game has. I would suggest the quick start as well and go from there. Play around and see what the game does and how things work and then look around and see what you'd like to do.

I know for me now, I set up fictional leagues and enjoy them way more than any real league I have ever run but there is so many possibilities, just create, enjoy, screw up, start over and create and enjoy

Again welcome and this forum is one of the best there is out there. Ask questions, search for others. It's a great site

I'm new, too, and I have a total of 170 hours played already. My "join date" appears to be April 12.

I used on of the quick start leagues, and then just started goofing around until I was somewhat comfortable.
