Huge Seasons

Ok, I need 3 posts to show what I need to show here.
This is a comparasin of similar historical leagues I played in ootp 23 and ootp 21. The point being, ootp 23 has WIDE swings of a few players each year. It is not necesarily criticism, but it is meant to show that game engine here functions very different from the past.
Both leagues are in the mid 1890's. Both leagues have 14 teams
Both leagues have a 1.000 neutral park rating. Both leagues will be using about the same modifiers. I update to about a half way modern environment. STATS ARE ALTERED IN MY SIMS that is not the point. I will get to it

Watch the output of the best players and the auto calc value being presented.
Here is OOTP 23. Look at the home runs

Now here is the exact same type league from ootp21.
This is what I am used to,a top player hitting around 50 home runs in the 1890's in this environment.

I want your attention partially to the difference of the league leader, 80+ in 23 and 50+ in 21.
But look at the modifier value. ootp 23 is using a value of 3.000 and is what is generating the 80 home run player
Ootp 21 is using 12.000 and is only generating a 50 home run player.
Same game, same players, same number of teams, same environment.

So that says the way the game is generating stats is WAY different now. And likely players historically are going to see a player or two just go off the charts each season. I also had Amos Rusie in 1890 go 31-2 in a 35 start season. I had never seen that in any of my previous saves.

The point is expect big wide swings by players in seasons. Again not saying this is a bad thing, but something we should expect with 23.

The devs did rewrite the sim engine from the ground up. I’m sure you can still get to guys leading the league with 50 HRs, I just don’t think the prior method you used to get them there will necessarily do it. FWIW I transitioned my league in mid season so I’m still using the same settings but everything looks like it’s still going OK (other than steals but I also doubled the rate per what people said early on and, well, it’s 1970 in my league and I’m all for a relatively high steal environment).
