League import error - could not import teams

As I said with my original error... I feel like I'm the only one experiencing this problem, but I'll post it anyways, in hopes that there's some simple solution to this (or that someone else is actually having this problem, too).

I'm trying to import a 6.5 league into OOTP2006. One league, 2 divisions with 3 sub-divisions each having 4 teams (24 teams total, if you followed that) with AAA, AA and A leagues. The game is currently at opening day (4/1/2001). All the teams are currently set to computer manager (the league files are from an online league, but for purposes of 'playing around', I changed all the teams from human manager to computer manager).

Basic step-by-step:
* Open OOTP2006
* New Game > Import OOTP 6.12/6.5 League
* Find league.dat file for league I'm trying to import
* Import screen reaches 33% before giving me the error message "League import error - could not import teams!"

I'm assuming that the fix is to go into 6.5 and make some kind of changes to the teams there before trying to import again, but I have no clue what I need to fix. Anybody have any ideas?

If it would help, I can post a zip or rar file of all of the .dat files in the league folder.
