Runner on wrong base at end of play - pics included
a little background - in-game managing, broadcast screen, quick sim AB
bases loaded, 1 out, hitter hits a liner to LF. the pBp says the runners on 2nd and 3rd score, the man on first goes to third, LF hits the cutoff man, who throws to 2nd, where the hitter is trying to stretch a single into a double. OUT! so, i should have a man on third (who was on first) and 2 outs. instead:

Maybe not?

Is this scenario likely? Not really, but it is possible. So, it could actually just have been a "weird play". |

It is definitely a weird play...but he may have held up at second and the runner got caught trying to stretch it into a double and realized he was still standing on second. It sure happens in real life. Like brooks said, it is a bonehead play by the batter.
That is actually kinda cool whether this is intentional or not ![]() |

I don't see anything in there saying that Phillipson went to third. Only that Ober scored and the play was made at "trailing runner."
It doesn't say WHICH trailing runner, and IIRC, what the system does is pull the most appropriate PBP tag for the play. Hutchinson may have passed Phillipson at second base, which is an automatic out. As somebody pointed out, he might have been gunning for two and forced to put the brakes on if Phillipson didn't advance past second base. I wouldn't necessarily consider this a bug unless the PBP specifically said Phillipson was out, instead of the vague "throw made at trailing runner." |

When I look at your screenshot, it says Ober went to third. It doesn't say a thing about Phillipson doing that. |

I've noticed this too although I don't have a screenshot or any other sort of evidence. I'll look for it and if it happens again I'll add Exhibit B. So I don't really know why I'm posting now apart from the fact that I really like typing.
