ping: TC Dale or Why Lock?
It just doesn't make sense to me to lock any of these issues (even if they are claimed fixed). It seems to me that keeping it open would lend, much easier, to discussion of "yea, it is working now" or "not working, I'm still getting a problem" once the patch has been released. Plus, a couple times I have wanted to add something to one of these threads (primarily discussion based), but they are zipped up.
Anyway, just a suggestion...thanks for keeping this place as organized as possible. |

I agree...please don't close threads here in Claimed Fixed. You're only going to force people to start new threads if the issue crops up again - threads that will then most likely be merged into the closed thread anyway to keep the issue in one place, so you're simply creating more work for everyone involved.

I dont mind reopening some guys, but until we get this backlog taken care of, it streamlines the process.
If the issue isn't resolved with the new patch we will be glad to reopen the thread, but we really have to get things to a point where we aren't falling behind again... and closing them temporarily is a solution so we aren't revisiting the same ones over and over again. They aren't closed forever, especially if they need reopened. We can reopen the thread and put it in TS main forum pretty fast. Let us get caught up and then if an issue goes bad again, we will just reopen the thread. ![]()

Is there not a way you can put some sort of tag on them instead? That would allow you to see that it is not currently an open issue in your bug database, yet allow us to continue any discussion that may be on-going without having to create another thread.

Unfortunately no. Right now this is the way we can do it. If we have the issue pop up we move the thread back to TS and then reopen it.
Claim/Fixed area is not supposed to be for public posting, it is an area we are shuttling issues to organize and verify. It was for moderation of Tech Support issues that have been unreviewed and not logged, then when addressed moved to other locations, like Logged Issues with a TT#, and main TS area.

Understood. I just don't like the idea of any discussions being locked down. The best solution, to me, would be to leave everything in the Tech Support forum, but have different tags for where the issues currently sit (decided non-issue, under review, in beta, confirmed fixed and/or whatever makes sense) with everything being left open for discussion.
It would be even better to somehow get TT#'s into the thread title when they are assigned!! I know all of this would probably be impossible to do without having someone whose job it is to do it as a full-time job. Last edited by andymac; 07-05-2006 at 04:53 PM. |
