Nothing against Ron Karkovice...
but despite the fact that I have Joe Girardi starting in all my lineups and depth charts, Karko keeps sneaking into my lineup when I start a game. I've got Ron in the back-up slot, playing every 15th game, but the computer puts him into the lineup just about all the time. The first couple of times I played I didn't notice it and was surprised (which doesn't say much about my attention to detail) when Karko came up. Is this a bug? I am using the first patch.

If you're only having your backup catcher play every 15 games, Girardi is probably pretty tired and the computer might be trying to rest him.

Is Girardi capable of playing all those games or is he exhausted? Is this on default settings or have you tweaking injuries and fatigue?

Girardi is fully rested when the computer decides to start Karko, which is the part that confuses me. Having the depth charts with detailed sub options is a great feature, so I'm kind of bummed to see that the computer is taking liberties with my preferences.

I'm having a very similar problem. I've got Thurman Munson batting 4th, as my starting catcher on all depth charts, line-ups, etc. Back-up starts every 5th or 7th game, depending on left or right handed pitcher.
Each time I manage a game, the back-up catcher is hitting 7th, with the 5th-7th hitters all moved up. Not a major problem, because I can switch it, but definitely an annoyance. |

Would you rather have your backup hit fourth? Or, are you just annoyed that the decisionis being made for you?

Cool, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person experiencing this. Like Glenn said, it's more of an annoyance than anything else since I manage every game, but I feel like I wouldn't be able to let the computer manage a game or two without it changing my prefered line-up for no good reason.

For the record, Ron Karkovice might be the most hideous looking human I've ever seen.

fauteil,
I'm so sorry for the slow response to this thread. Obviously, a lot of changes have gone into place since you posted this. Would you be so kind as to give me an update on Karkovice's fate if you are using the 1.0.2 patch? Thanks very much, Steve |

We have a new rule that states that Tech Support threads wherein we have not received a response within 7 days will be closed.
This one meets this criteria, so I'm closing this. If you want to discuss it again, just PM me with the thread link, and I'll re-open. (Don't just say "Hey, reopen my thread." I need to know the URL, thanks!) Steve |
