E-License in control panel

Hi all,

I was going to unlicense the game because I am transferring the game to a new hard drive and when I click on the e-license icon in control panel, nothing happens. Has anybody else had this problem?

Thanks.

JB

Not that I know.

I would suggest a reboot, and try again. After that, if you don't have luck, you may need to IM Marc Duffy or contact eLicense.

IM's to Marc require patience over the next few days.

Yes, I've had this problem on two computers. I was just getting ready to contact e-license and see if they have a fix for this. If you find out first, could you post the fix here? Otherwise, I'll post what I find out.

It's a problem with XP SP2 it seems. Markprior22 suggested ExplorerXP, a freeware directory explorer and it worked great for me. You just browse to the OOTP.exe and right click on it from the interface and you have the option to unlicense the game.

Yeah, I worked with elicense for about 2 weeks on this (wasn't with OOTP but another elicense game). They tried all kinds of stuff and couldn't come up with a solution. The ExplorerXP program is the best solution I could find.

A link, perhaps?

Can't you just right-click on the desktop icon and choose "eLicense Control -> Unlicense"?

That's the whole problem. Some of us aren't able to do that for some reason.

I had a similar issue with v6.5. eLicense support gave me the following command line to run.

"C:\Prorgam Files\....\ootp.exe" -unlicense

I did this a week or so ago to remove OOTP2006 from my work machine and it claims to have worked fine. I haven't tried to reuse the license yet but I expect it to work.

PS - I don't recall if it was ootp.exe in 2006 but you should be able to find it.

Thanks for the suggestion! I didn't try ExplorerXP since I already had ReactOS Explorer, but it still worked. Maybe it works with other shells as well, just not Windows Explorer - it figures.
