Serious speed issues

Yes, I've read that people are having problems with speed but here's what I'm dealing with (tell me if it should run faster)

In 8 hours, I was only able to sim 17 seasons. This is with all game logs, box scores, auto-save off, etc (as recommended to) with all North American leagues enabled.

I have an Athlon64 3000+ with 1 GB RAM so I'd assume it would run a little bit faster.

Is this a known issue that will be fixed in a patch?

The latest patch will also address some speed issues for simming longterm.
