Strange League Archive Problem

Ok, this is going to be a little confusing, because, quite frankly I'm confused.

In my league, the commissioner hasn't been able to download the new patch, he says his computer crashes whenever he tries.
In this league I'm the guy who owns the web space, so he sends me a complete .zip file of his saved_games/league.lg directory. I then, in turn create the html reports and league file for uploading to the rest of the league.
This worked out just fine pre-patch, but now, we have problems.
Owners in the league are telling me they are getting an error that says: file is old or corrupt.
Could this be because I have a patched version and the commish doesn't?
I have no problem opening and using his .zip file, but noone can use the tar.gz file the game creates.
Although, it is interesting to point something else out. When I use the games auto-archiving feature, it only archives 217 files, and none of them are .dat files. I believe that to be the problem, but I can't seem to fix it.

Sorry if I confused anyone!

The TarGzip archive is to making uploading the html reports faster. Then when they get unzipped on the server, they will be visible to all visitors to your website. So you are right in that is the problem. That TarGzip is NOT your league file. You have to manually go into the saved_games directory and zip it yourself. then upload it with an FTP program.

actually, the new auto archive feature for league files is differenet then the HTML reports, as far as I know. And it creates a seperate tar.gz file for the league file. It is a new feature from the latest patch.

robster,

Hmm, there's a lot of different stuff in there.

There is a known issue right now with online league imports/exports. I suspect that this may be part of the situation.

However, in online leagues, all players absolutely must be on the exact same build of the game, that's for certain.

When you say "no one can use the tar.gz file the game creates," are you referring to your league file? And if that's the case, define "no one can use." They can't open the file? There's an error? It unzips fine, but the game spits it back out?

Thanks!

Steve

I'm referring to the league file.
I wasn't able to get exact info out of the few owners that had downloaded the file, except that they had the patch, and the game wouldn't open the file. If I hear more I'll let you know, but I think it might have been a case of someone not knowing how to export combined with a lack of patch on the commishes part.

Thanks for the response though.

Alright, well, we know there's an issue right now. I would suggest you hold off until the next patch comes out, and we can reassess then...

Thanks,

Steve
